LANGUAGECERT International ESOL B2 Communicator
Written (Listening, Reading, Writing) and Spoken (Speaking) exams in English, aligned to the B2 level of the CEFR. Exams are delivered through LanguageCert’s global network of test centres or online.
About LANGUAGECERT International ESOL B2:
- Leads to a four-skills certificate
- Written and Spoken certificates can also be taken separately
- Both exams can be taken together or independently of each other
Listening, Reading and Writing
Duration: 2 hours 40 minutes
Paper-based, computer-based or online with remote live proctoring
Speaking assessment in English
Duration: 13 minutes
Face-to-face or online with an interlocutor
- Communicate in detail, travel, live and work independently
- Interact with fluency without much strain
- Follow news, TV and radio channels
- Write emails, texts, letters, reports and stories

Written Exam — 2 hours & 40 minutes

Listening
Duration: 30 minutes
Includes multiple choice tasks, short note writing and listening for gist and specific information.
Reading
Includes multiple choice questions, gap-fill tasks, matching short texts and short written answers.
Writing
Task 1: 100–150 words
Task 2: 150–200 words
Listening sections include:
- Multiple choice conversations
- Identifying topic, context, purpose and speaker attitude
- Short notes based on recorded information
- Listening for gist, examples, opinion, contrast, purpose and key ideas
Reading sections include:
- Multiple choice questions on a longer text
- Choosing sentences to complete a text
- Matching short texts to questions
- Short answers of up to 5 words
Writing sections include:
- Task 1: formal response for an intended public audience
- Task 2: informal writing such as a personal letter or narrative composition
Spoken Exam — 13 minutes
Face-to-face or online with an interlocutor.
Statement of Result (SoR) and e-certificate are sent by email or through the Test Centre.
- 3 business days for online exams with remote live invigilation
- 5 business days for computer-based exams
- 10 business days for paper-based exams
Digital badges are available in approximately 10 business days and sent by email.
Hard-copy certificates are sent either to the candidate or to the Test Centre shortly after results are released.
